Anna University Internal Marks V/s Theory Marks for various Grades Comparison Table

Anna University releases the final internal marks out of 20 for each theory subjects before the publication of end semester results for the exams conducted on the months of May/June and November/December/January for higher semester students as well as first year students. The Minimum Theory Marks out of 100 is 45, which everyone should get mandatory to get a pass grade, irrespective of any internal mark. Many students study well for internal assessment tests and get 18 and above internal marks out of 20. Some students get atleast 14 marks for internal marks and some students even lower. Also many students want to get S or A grades and some satisfies with E or D grade. For these students, the below table gives the clear idea for the minimum internal marks and the theory examination marks to get required letter grades.

NOTE : The internal assessment marks obtained by the candidate in the first appearance shall be retained and considered valid for all subsequent attempts till the candidate secure a pass. However, from the third attempt onwards if a candidate fails to obtain pass marks (IA + End Semester Examination) as per clause 13.1, then the candidate shall be declared to have passed the examination if he/she secure a minimum of 50% marks prescribed for the university end semester examinations alone. (Referred to Regulation 2008 & 2013)
